It all started in 1997 when Lana Hames attended Stitches West for the first time. It took 3 years of planning, designing and research. In 2000 Lanaknits Designs hemp for knitting was launched! Allhemp yarn is really popular as a knitwear as in many other use as market bag, "cotton" pads etc.

As a fiber hemp is similar to linen in its texture and is easily combined with other natural fibres making it durable and soft. Hemp requires no pesticides or herbicides, it returns 60%-70% of the nutrients it takes back to the soil and uses up to four times less water than other fibres - making it one of the most eco-friendly fibres to produce.
